Education is what makes the world go round. Without an education, George Washington wouldn't have been able to lead the United States in a Revolutionary War victory that ultimately led to the foundation of the great country we live in. Nikola Tesla couldn't have been a world renown inventor that changed the world's capability to use electricity. Sonia Sotomayor would not have broken the modern stereotypes and been named the first Hispanic female Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Before William Shakespeare began writing beautiful sonnets and plays, he had to have someone teach him to read and write at some point. Without the help of a teacher, Hellen Keller would not have been able to overcome her struggles of being deaf and blind. Beethoven didn't just wake up one day composing music and playing the piano; someone sacrificed time and effort because they saw something in him, and pushed him to become one of the greatest musical composers of all time.
Education is important.
Educators are more important. Educators change the world. They challenge their students to become the best then can be, and encourage them to get back up when they fall. Day after day, a teacher is there to provide her students with the education that they need. With little pay, they make a decision to change the world in a quiet way by equipping their students with an education-- one that they can use to change the world. All great men in this world once had a teacher. That teacher played a part in them becoming leaders, inventors, writers, readers, mathematicians, artists, speakers and lovers of life.
Everyone has had a teacher in their life that they would consider "great." You would not be where you are today without the teachers in your life. Never underestimate the influence a teacher has on his or her students. Also, don't think that teacher doesn't care. If they didn't care, they probably would have chosen a different profession.
With that being said, I have signed up for this difficult task. I understand the need for teachers. Though often times looked down upon, I believe that teaching is a special calling-- a heart that longs to make a difference in the lives of our youth.
I hope you enjoy my tales as a teacher.
I also hope you remember the teachers in your life that made you who you are today.
